Painted Area Rug

Material: Re-purposed area rug

Specs: 8′ x 12′

Description: Crate and Barrel Rug that needed new life!

This is a very easy project to tackle in an afternoon. I decided to use a darker base color on the rug, since it was going to be used in my basement. I used an exterior latex paint to give some added durability since it is in a high traffic area. An 8’x12′ used an entire gallon of paint (two coats). Once the base coat was dry I added a few stripes for added detail.

This rug makeover cost about $5, so a great way to give an old rug a new life. My favorite part about the rug…if you get a stain you simply paint over it!
